False Marriage 1996

Along with the Accusation of Divorce Made submitted supporting documents.

As the Respondent I could receive photocopies of the other side's evidence on request, although I had to ask Rifan for them several times. I had never seen these documents before.

Certificate of "Never Married" in 1996. Made reports herself born in Denpasar, resident in Tabanan, Never Married, and the purpose of this certificate To obtain a marriage license.

Certificate of "Hindu Marriage" in June 1996. Made reports a Hindu marriage ceremony taking place in Tabanan. Later testimony in other cases from all witnesses including Made Jati herself showed that this ceremony never happened.

Marriage Documents of 1996. Filled out and signed by Made Jati only. The photocopy quality is terrible, but in all the lines for issuance date the day and month appear to be obscured.

The finished marriage certificate 1996.

I did have a copy of this because Made had given it to me—the first time I had seen it—to give to Rifan just two weeks before I received her Accusation of Divorce. Rifan looked puzzled when I handed it to him. "I won't need this" he said after reading it over and handing it back. I still had it in my files.

It was a year later that I finally realized her purpose.
